LDS Homemoms Policies
  • The following list of policies must be accepted before registering for this group.
  • If you wish to discuss any of them with Betty or Karl, please do so privately.
  1. No money-making propositions (direct-sales, home-businesses, etc.) posted to the group.

  2. No advertising of commercial products, businesses or services. Sometimes we hear of something, but it should not be a personal business by a member of the group, but rather something like, "Hey, I found this link and I think you might like it..." Any type of email which promotes a product which will result in your personal commercial gain must be pre-approved by me. Oh, and if you want to know before asking, I don't plan to approve any because I haven't done so in the past.

  3. Me, the listowner, and Karl, the administrator, reserve the right to moderate posts and "cut" any thread, possibly unsubscribing members who violate these rules.

  4. Contention is not allowed in the group. Contention hurts feelings and creates a bad environment by driving good feelings and the spirit of unity we hope is present, from the group. We should be kind and respectful of each other, and flame wars will not be tolerated. If you ask us to "take sides" be prepared to receive a reply you may not like. If you have a problem or are offended by someone through an email, handle it privately and not through the group!

  5. This is a list comprised of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That means it follows the teachings of The Church, which means we believe in, and espouse, the thirteenth article of faith and will be following it in this group. LDS Homemoms is to be a place where the Lord's spirit is welcome. We support the teachings and standards set forth in For The Strength of Youth; Fulfilling our Duty to God from The Church. Discussions that contradict the counsel and direction outlined in that publication, or of church leaders, are not welcome. We do not consider their counsel something to be debated and rationalized away. Their counsel is spoken in love and, if followed, will help us lead a happier life, and therefore, is a divine tool for our eternal progression. This list was not created to give voice to anyone who would make attempts to rationalize their weakness and seek support from others who wish to oppose those teachings.

  6. All posts should reflect, or show support for, LDS values as expressed in the scriptures and by the leaders of The Church. No criticism of church leaders is allowed. We support and follow the principles espoused by the questions asked in a Temple Recommend Interview. We don't support evil in any form. Our church leaders' messages are taken to be righteous counsel, not opinion to be debated.

  7. Please review the following scriptures which support these policies:
       3 Nephi 11:27-30
       Mosiah 3:11-12

  8. A few years ago Karl was the institute teacher for the Orem College 3rd Stake, a singles stake serving students of BYU and Utah Valley State College in Orem, Utah. We came across the following quote from President Joseph F. Smith in the Gospel Principles manual, and we think it applies:
"Among the Latter-day Saints, the preaching of false doctrines disguised as truths of the gospel, may be expected from people of two classes, and practically from these only; they are:
"First, the hopelessly ignorant, whose lack of intelligence is due to their indolence and sloth, who make but feeble effort, if indeed any at all, to better themselves by reading and study; those who are afflicted with a dread disease that may develop into an incurable malady: laziness.
"Second, the proud and self-vaunting ones, who read by the lamp of their own conceit, who interpret by rules of their own contriving; who have become a law unto themselves, and so, pose as the sole judges of their own doings. More dangerously ignorant than the first.
"Beware of the lazy and of the proud; their infection in each case is contagious; better for them and for all when they are compelled to display the yellow flag of warning, that the clean and uninfected may be protected."
      Gospel Doctrine, p. 373
